Yamamoto Noh Theater · 2016-

Noh x Contemporary Theater

An ongoing collaboration between Noh performers at Yamamoto Noh Theater and contemporary theater artists. Shinichiro Hayashi serves as playwright and director, with multiple productions created through the project.

PORTAL

An urban myth play set in Shonai, Toyonaka, layering maps with mythology. Nominated for the 61st Kishida Kunio Drama Award, it was presented in Osaka, Okinawa, Kochi, and Kyoto.

Osaka University Nakanoshima Center · 2022-2024

Nakanoshima Derivative

A three-year research-performance project developed with Osaka University's Nakanoshima Center. Working with students, researchers, and participants, the project traced the history of Nakanoshima, finance, and urban memory, evolving from a staged performance into city-walking tour performances.

2022

Nakanoshima Derivative

Presented as the outcome of Osaka University's art-human-resource program, taking the Dojima Rice Exchange and the history of futures trading as a point of departure.

2023

Nakanoshima Derivative II

Developed under the subtitle "Narratives of Place / Urban Archaeology" into a tour performance moving through the Nakanoshima area.

2024

Nakanoshima Derivative III

Built on the previous two years and expanded into a night-time tour performance through Nakanoshima, asking audiences to imagine the city's future together.
